Best Practices to Search Government Entities and Schools

This article provides instructions to find a list of Government Entities and Schools based on specific search criteria, including location, and more. 

Step Description Details
1 Launch the List Build page

Go to InsideView CRM View and then click Build a List.

2 Enter the company list criteria On the Build a List page, enter the search criteria for your company list.

3 Search with the Location

The Company Location: Geography list enables you to search for companies using the following location types:

  • Region
  • Country
  • State / Province

In this example, select the United States country in the Geography filter.

4 Search by Government and School industry classification In the Companies tab, select an industry from the Government drop-down list and then enter the Company Name filter.

Use Case Example 1:

  • Click the plus (+) button to open the Filters dialog and add the additional search criteria filters.
  • If you want to search for the Colorado State Government, select Government as Industry and enter the State of Colorado in the Company Name filter and click Apply.state_colorado.png
  • Now, you will see 1 company and 3,932 people in the search criteria. state_colorado1.png
  • Click Search and select the Companies tab to find the State of Colorado government entity.state_colorado2.png
  • Click the Company Name link to view the Government Entity details.state_colorado3.png

Use Case Example 2:

  • Click the plus (+) button to open the Filters dialog and add the additional search criteria filters.
  • If you want to search for the U.S Department of Homeland Security,
  • select Government as Industry and enter the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in the Company Name filter and click Apply.homeland_security.png
  • Now, you will see 1 company and 15,014 people in the search criteria. 
  • Click Search and select the Companies tab to find the U.S. Department of Homeland Security government entity.homeland_security1.png
  • To search for other Government Entities, enter the keyword to select the desired entities from the type-ahead suggestions as illustrated:various_governments.png
  • To search for government transportation entities, enter the keyword as illustrated:department_transport.png

Similarly, you can search the Schools and Education, then enter the desired university or school name to find them. 

Use Case Example 1:

  • Click the plus (+) button to open the Filters dialog and add the additional search criteria filters.
  • If you want to search for the Colorado State Government, select Schools and Education as Industry and enter the Standford University in the Company Name filter and click Apply.standford.png
  • Now, you will see 1 company and 12,655 people in the search criteria. standford1.png

Use Case Example 2:

  • Click the plus (+) button to open the Filters dialog and add the additional search criteria filters.
  • If you want to search for the Colorado State Government, select Schools and Education as Industry and enter the University of Florida in the Company Name filter, and click Apply.florida_uni.png
  • Now, you will see 1 company and 15,323 people in the search criteria. 
  • Click Search and select the Companies tab to find the University of Florida details.florida_uni1.png
  • To search for other schools and universities, enter the keyword in the Company Name filter as illustrated:various_schools.png
  • To search for other universities, enter the keyword as illustrated:university.png

Note: You can also enter an industry's SIC or NAICS code. The InsideView database will allow you to search using either 2007 or 2012 NAICS codes.
